A garage door can either make or break
the look of a home. With one that perfectly complements your home’s exterior in colour and design, you can
create a welcoming and esthetically appealing first impression for any visitor to your
abode.
Ultra-Lite Doors, based in Calgary, offers over 60,000
configurations of garage doors to fit any taste and any home.
“We offer everything from
your basic garage door to doors that will enhance even Calgary’s most elite homes,” says Chris Szysky,
vice-president of Ultra-Lite
Doors.
In 1982, Al Abrahamson
launched Ultra-Lite
Doors.
He still owns the company today and credits the company’s success to a strong business ethic and loyalty to
his staff. Ultra-Lite
Doors has grown to be one of the largest door companies in Calgary today, with
clients throughout Canada and even some internationally.
“We’ve sent garage doors
to a variety of locations all over Canada and even overseas,” says Szysky. “Our company has grown
substantially in the last decade, not only in size but as a team. We credit this to our ability to meet the
needs of our clientele in our marketplace. We try to go outside the box and be an innovative
company.”
Ultra-Lite Doors is also a company with a conscience: In past
years, they sent a large quantity of garage doors to Haiti to help with the country’s rebuilding process in
the aftermath of a devastating earthquake.
Closer to home,
Ultra-Lite
Doors has won a Consumers’ Choice Award for Business Excellence every year since
2005. This award is bestowed upon companies that consumers feel excel in a variety of areas, including
quality, service, value and appearance.
“We believe we won this
award because of consistency. We strive to have excellent customer service while providing a wide variety of
quality products. With this combination we feel we will be successful for years to come. Our biggest asset is
our staff — knowledgeable salesmen and industry leading tradesmen have been a key to our success,” Szysky
says, adding that some of their staff has been with Ultra-Lite Doors for over 20 years.
The company provides a
wide selection of unique residential garage doors. Rather than just offering the average- grade garage door,
Ultra-Lite
Doors offers several contemporary designs and gives consumers options on a variety
of patterns and styles for their garage door. This way, homeowners can personalize the door to suit their own
unique taste and truly call the garage design their own, instead of one standard style taken straight off an
assembly line.
One of Ultra-Lite Doors’
most popular designs has been the Coachman collection, which maintains the high-end look of the wood carriage
house-style door, but is actually low-maintenance and durable. Its design options include door studs, lion’s
head door knockers, or even fleur-de-lis handles if consumers are looking for a classic, medieval
feel.
Another popular design is
the Canyon Ridge collection, which was introduced in July of last year. It features rustic, faux wood garage
doors that evoke the unique flair of natural wood and pleasantly complement the brick façade of a
house.
The company also offers
the unique Avante series that not only serves as a garage door, but can also be used as an interior loft
divider. Its design is composed of a thick aluminum frame and panels inspired by the traditional Japanese
sliding door, called a shoji.
“These designs are popular
because of their style, flexibility and they look extremely good on the right house. Most people living in
the Calgary area are looking for something other than the everyday garage door, and we have that,” says
Szysky.
“We offer a wide range of
doors, non-insulated doors to R-17 insulated doors, glass doors to solid fir wood doors. Because of this
variety I think we exceed the expectations of our customers,” Szysky says.
Currently,
Ultra-Lite
Doors is
working on a type of garage door that no other company has ever pursued. They’re hoping to unveil it in the
next couple of months, so stay tuned to their website (ultralitedoors.ca) for the
unveiling.
With this innovation, the
company makes it look like constant reinvention is just part of the job — what any garage door company should
do. •
