Tappo Wine Bar & Restaurant, offering traditional Italian and
Mediterranean fare, is a welcoming restaurant that can suit every occasion.
The Toronto restaurant can accommodate a wedding or a variety of other functions, but manager Rene Canning
notes that Tappo is “a date spot.” The romantic atmosphere coupled with the rustic decor of the restaurant
can certainly be perfect for a first-ever date or one of many. The expansive bar is well-stocked and
attractive. They have over 300 different varieties of wine, ranging from $40 a bottle to $580 a bottle, and
many exclusive and consignment wines as well.
Canning says that patrons who dine there feel at home, and there is a personal rapport between staff and
regular clientele.
He adds that what distinguishes Tappo is “the personal service that allows guests to choose how they want to dine.”
A favourite amongst patrons is the hand-rolled ricotta-spinach gnocchi dish served in a Gorgonzola cream
sauce and the Terra e Mare entrée, a surf and turf dish with scallops, black tiger shrimp and veal
medallions.
Tappo is located in the oldest building in the Distillery District, which dates back to 1832.
The restaurant is booked solid on a continuous basis, so be sure to make reservations to dine there, and
fast! •
