Ever thought you’d look good in a
baguette, macaron or tarte tatin? Now you can. We’re talking about Mortar & Pestle’s Spring 2012
collection, inspired by the feeling of walking into a bakery that just pulled fresh bread out of the
oven.
With garments named after
delicious pastries in shades such as blueberry, lemon, basil, and sage, designer Jillian Zdunich has blended
various appeals of femininity, such as the look of a pin-up girl with the need for comfort when running
errands, to create this fresh collection.
The all-natural fabrics
such as cotton and linen amp up the comfort and luxuriousness of the garments, making them versatile from day
to night and easy to mix and match. “Whether at a Sunday brunch, buying pastries at the local market, or
strolling along the sea wall, each piece in the collection was designed with fit, functionality, and ease in
mind,” says Zdunich.
Pieces include a
two-piece, high-waisted swimsuit that draws attention to your curves and demands confidence, bright
jumpsuits, tank tops, loose-fit cropped tops and skirts. Best of all:, prices range from $65 to
$200.
