Eat for a Cause

Eat to the Beat goes on for another widely successful year

Among the delicious eats, decadent treats and live orchestra band was an evening filled with lively entertainment.

More than 60 chefs — a majority of female chefs — gathered at Roy Thomson Hall on Tuesday night to showcase their culinary skills, all to support the worthy cause of Willow Breast Cancer Support Canada. Willow is a non-for-profit organization providing free support for women coping with breast cancer. They also offer support for families and friends affected by the disease.

Celebrating its 16th year, Eat to the Beat has raised more than $3 million to help support Willow’s free services and programs.

The event showcased a variety of cuisine with a multitude of appetizers and desserts available for guests to sample.

Some highlights from the event include the house-made pork & smoked apple sausage roll in puff pastry with sweet/spicy mustard (pictured above) from Melissa Fox-Revett of Blue Plate, assorted flavours of cake lollies, including chocolate, red velvet and lemon from Vanessa Le Page from Inn on the Twenty and red velvet cupcakes from Pauline’s Pastries(which are amazing!) The evening wouldn’t be complete without delicious cocktails from the event’s Prosecco Bar featuring Giovello, Hpnotiq and Pama, as well as the various wine, beer and spirits including Colio Estate Wines and Steam Whistle Brewing.

Along with the live music, the event also featured live corset models known as Eat to the Beat’s “class with a bit of sass” ladies, who wore intricately designed food-inspired corsets. Guests were also invited to participate in a silent auction and raffle draw.
